Aqualands location was specifically chosen due to its unique geographical location. The area is still free from large hotel developments and as such, offers a beautiful, safe, hassle free beach, which is ideally suited to the extensive selection of water sports on available at the resort. The amazing beach and the calm waters of the beautifull lagoon in front of the Resort offers ideal conditions for Kite Surfing, Windsurfing, Snorkeling, Jet Ski Adventures as well as Big Game Fishing.

The highlights are without doubt, Scuba Diving and the world famous whale shark spot in close distance of the Center.

SCUBA DIVING: Southern Cross Scuba - PADI Dive Center

Scuba Diving in this area at some of the best dive sites kenya offers; this is no news to the repeat guests diving from Pinewood Village, who consistently experience top quality diving with one of the most experienced kenyan diving crew, which includes regular sightings of large pelagic species (Whale Shark, Dolphin & Manta Rays) that frequent this area.

Aqualand / Sx Scuba Ltd. offers daily dive excursions in small groups departing direct of the beach in front of Aqualand / Pinewood Village with their speed boat DSV Melia to the tropical, colourfull spots of the warm indian ocean.

Multilingual PADI diving courses for beginners and experienced divers are offered throughout the week, as well as 1 day Introductory Courses and free pool try out's.

Robinson Crusoe Excursion

Designed to “bring people away from people”, the tour has been running at Pinewood Village now for the last three years. The Robinson Trip pearts direct of the beach from Pinewood Village on a small boat with max. 5 person and brings you on a 40 min ride along the untouched coastline of Kinondo to a remote area in front of Chale Island and the Kaya Kinondo reserve. While enjoying snorkleing or a fun dive, a delicious “Robinson style” BBQ is prepared for you at a secluded sandy bay, by your own chef.

Additional bird watching and mangrove tour can be organized on request.

Mountain Bike Eco Tour.

This tour brings clients to the heart of the “Digo” community in Kinondo. Brand new Mountain Bikes bring clients to the sacred “Kaya Kinondo” forest, which is a protected living museum of the Digo people’s traditional culture. After the forest tour, which is guided, by trained professionals from National Museums of Kenya, clients bike through the local plantations and the homesteads of the local people. As well as visiting the local traditional herbalist or “Mganga”, clients are also treated to traditional refreshments and snacks. The tour, which is receiving rave reviews from clients and tour operator alike, is designed to give guests maximum exposure to the rich and diverse Kenyan culture, often missed when tourists stay in large westernized hotels. “The local community have excepted tourists well”, says local Councilor Mzee Mnyenze, “the money is helping to develop not only our community but has also provided valuable employment”.

Wet & Wild Jet Ski Adventures

Operating probably the most up to date equipment in East Africa, Wet and Wild questionably offers some of the most exiting tours and jet ski fun - adventure available at the coast.

The unique 60 min Beach - and 90 min Mangrove Jet Ski Safaris offer superb views of Diani & Galu Beach on the North Tour or Chale Island and the Mangrove Forests at Funzi Bay on the South Tour. Guests have the chance to observe at close quarters, Whale Sharks, Dolphins and Manta Rays, making these tours a potential highlight of anyone’s life, let alone their holiday.

If that’s not for you, 20 min jet ski fun, banana boat rides, wake boarding, water ski and super mable fun is offered to enjoy family action and fun.

Aqualand and Wet & Wild have made special consideration for the safety aspects of this sport as well as the environmental considerations.

Kite boarding

Ray Kasper, a visiting professional Kite boarder who runs his own Kite and snowboarding company (Four Seasons Board Sports) in the USA says ”I have kite boarded just about all the hot spots in the world including Hawaii’s famous Kite Beach (with surf legend Laird Hamilton), Hookipa and The Gorge in Oregon, Kenya beats them ALL! The seasonal trade winds here provide excellent conditions for pro kiter’s and beginners alike. The current long shore winds (Kaskasi) combined with Aqualand’s pristine, wide and boat free beach; definitely make for some of the best kite boarding in the world!

Aqualand offers introductory courses and full kite boarding courses in perfect conditions througout the week. Enjoy a free try out session and get addicted to the 'Wind Sport of the Future'.

Big Game Fishing

Aqualand’ s geographical position pays off again, Volker Bassen who is the owner of M.F.V “Unique” and “Scorpio” and has over 13 years experience fishing Kenyan Waters explains, “ Being so far south here provides very close proximity to the Pemba Channel, which is world famous for its deep water and abundant fish supply. Fine catches of Marlin and Sailfish have been achieved this year as well as good numbers of Wahoo, Dorado and Kingfish. Our catch results this season has certainly proved that”. Whale Shark and Dolphin are often spotted, adding an exiting dimension to a half or full day fishing excursion departing direct off the beach from Pinewood Village.

Aqualand runs a strict tag and release program, which is run in accordance with IGFA (International Game Fishing Association) and designed to preserve rare and endangered species.

Windsurfing

The calm, safe and protected waters away from boating traffic offer ideal waters for all windsurfing enthusiasts. Gear rentals, beginner and advanced courses, as well as daily free try out sessions are available at Aqualand.

A 'Special' is the 'Surf Holiday', which offers a full beginner course with 5 hours extra equipment rental to improve your skills in this perfect environment.

Conservation

In response to the delicate environmental situation, Aqualand & Pinewood Village also run conservation programs to preserve the local area and its indigenous people. Pinewood Village & Aqualand are members of Eco-Tourism Society of Kenya (ESOK), The East African Wildlife Society (EAWS) and the Project Aware Foundation as well as being home to the East Africa Whale Shark Trust (EAWST).

Aqualand was awarded the Certificate of Excellence for best New Adventure facility from the Kenyan Tourist Board.
